“Studs Terkel: Patron saint of podcasting”

October 13th, 2004 · Michael Fioritto’s Weblog

“I have been reading (and listening) to “Talking to Myself” by Studs Terkel and I think the podcasting community should adopt him as their patron saint and role model.

Terkel famously carried around a tape recorder and captured the voices of people from around the world, producing a rich treasure trove of oral history.

Listen to how he weaves his subject’s voices into his memory of their conversations.

As Terkel said, “I am a neo-cartesian. I tape therefore I am.” Time will tell if podcasting will leave us with a rich repository of oral histories. I sure hope so.” (http://www.fioritto.us/studs-terkel-patron-saint-of-podcasting/1113/)

http://www.podcastdirectory.com/podshows/437251  …for more Terkel, from PODCASTDIRECTORY with an intersting assortment of podcast topics from Arts to Government to Food and Comedy, Culture and Music… including a definition:
“Podcasting is the automatic distribution of mp3s via RSS/XML files.”–
OK, now we know, eh?             So from podcastalley.com to thepodcastnetwork.com, the casting world keeps opening up–

Then there’s the online music styles and gadgets to guess your test at the roll of the dice– it’s all great exposure if you want it– go for it. Pandora brings forth 16 Horsepower and then Alabama Chicken. Good stuff. And time slides away… goodnight nurse–
